I spent quite a while yesterday in one of the Senate Office Buildings, praying on each floor past many of the offices of the "old" and "new" Senators.  I prayed in the Supreme Court Cafeteria, and it was later that I noticed the sculpture of which I posted a photo on Facebook.  The caption was, "Minerva Dictating the Constitution to Young America."  I'm still trying to "digest" this.  It almost makes one ask, "What were they thinking?"  An encyclopedia says that "Minerva was the Roman goddess of wisdom and sponsor of arts, trade, and strategy.  She was born with weapons from the godhead of Jupiter....The Romans equated her with Athena.  She was the virgin goddess of (among many other things) magic.  [She] stem[]s from an Italic moon goddess."  In Greek mythology, she was the goddess of war.  She is also depicted on the American "Medal of Honor."  Jesus help us in America.

I also attended a briefing sponsored by OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe).  They showed a documentary film about the dictatorship in Belarus.  One person likened the situation to North Korea.  One of the presenter's husband was among many who "disappeared" in 1999.
